half dome

half dome, california, usa. elevation:8836 ft.
i may have done poorly on my wall climbing adventure(see mission cliffs) but hopefully this makes up for it.

this hike is not for people who are scared of heights, which to my surprise, i'm one of them. after a strenuous climb nearly to the top, having only a few stone steps and the rest (the slanted side of the mountain) to go up, i freaked out. realizing that i had to go back down the same way, i started to somewhat get really scared and nervous. i literally freaked out! i think i was about to bust out crying lol (no kidding). i didn't realize my fear of heights was that bad. but jordan coached me and help me make it to the bottom of the cables.
but the mind games didn't end there...seeing that it was a 45 degree climb or maybe more to the top with only cables to hang on, i finally decided to settle with where i was. not at the top but close enough :) jordan did it though. good job!!!

it was painful and very exhuasting. a staircase that never ended, going straight up and straight down. after 11 hrs of hiking, staring at shoes in front of me, looking around at more rocks and trees and the constant sweat pouring off our foreheads. we finally made it. what a great accomplishment. thanks jordan

Facing our fears and trying new experiences is what is important; making it to the top of a particular mountain isn't.

Congratulations on trying something new and challenging. I'm sure it was rewarding and you have a better sense of yourself and your strengths now.

YOU'RE A DORK!!! LOL But it's good to see you guys don't spend your weekends indoors. The fact that you even touched Half Dome is an accomplishment all on it's own man. Be proud!
